This steel is strengthened by precipitation of intermetallic compounds (from Mo, Ti, etc.) in an ultra-low carbon Fe-Ni martensitic matrix. According to tensile strength, it is classified into 200, 250, 300, and 350 grade maraging steels, with maximum tensile strength exceeding 2300 MPa. These materials have simple heat treatment, no decarburization, low quenching distortion, good cold workability and machinability.
